1. What is a hybrid solar system?
An on-grid system connects to the electric grid for credits but shuts down during a power outage. An off-grid system runs entirely on batteries. A hybrid system combines both. It stays connected to the grid for net metering & bill savings and has a battery bank for backup and hence does not shut down during the power outage..
2. How long with the battery keep my home running during a power outage?
It depends entirely on your battery capacity and what you are running. For example, a well sized hybrid system can comfortably run lights, fans, a refrigerator, phone charging and a TV for about 7 to 10 hours. Even with an AC, it can run continuously for 2 to 3 hours.
